HDSI Celebrates Outstanding Alumni with Annual Award Nominations

The Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute (HDSI) has announced its six nominees for the 2024 Alumni of the Year award. This annual recognition celebrates exceptional contributions by alumni to the HDSI community, highlighting their roles in fostering a vibrant and supportive network. The award not only honors individual achievements but also emphasizes the importance of alumni engagement in nurturing the next generation of data scientists.

This year’s nominees include Nathan Au, Class of 2020, who serves as an Enterprise Account Executive at AT&T. Recognized for his active mentorship, Nathan frequently participates in alumni events and inspired many at the Fall ’23 Alumni Spotlight. Alexandra Keamy, a 2020 graduate and Lead Data Scientist at Leidos, is recognized for her consistent support of students through class presentations and alumni events, enhancing networking opportunities for career growth.

Devanshu Desai, from the Class of 2021 and currently a Data Engineer at Meta, has played a key role in fostering a sense of community among alumni. His efforts in organizing gatherings and sharing his career journey were notably showcased in the Spring ’24 Alumni Spotlight. Parker Addison, a 2021 graduate and Data Scientist at Deloitte, has made significant impacts through panels, class talks, and workshops, offering invaluable career advice and expanding students’ professional networks.

Also nominated is Emily Ramond, a 2022 alumna, has been praised for her exceptional mentorship during the Deloitte Capstone project and her unwavering dedication to student success. Benjamin Sacks, Class of 2023, has been actively involved in creating networking opportunities and contributing to professional development through workshops. He will be starting graduate school at San Diego State University Fall 2024.

The announcement of the Alumni of the Year will take place at the 2024 Alumni Summer Celebration, a highly anticipated event that fosters camaraderie and celebrates the achievements of the HDSI community. The celebration will be hosted at the new Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute building, with registration available through the 12Twenty Career Platform. This event not only recognizes the remarkable contributions of the alumni but also strengthens the bonds within the HDSI network, ensuring continued support and inspiration for future generations.
