A team of 3 CS/Math students won 3rd place in SoCal regional programming competition and they will represent UCSD to compete in the North America Championship round soon in May at Orlando! Congratulations and best luck!Details:
Back in the last quarter, on Feb 27, we have organized a remote site at the CSE Basement for the ICPC South California Regional Competition — 6 teams of UCSD students have participated in this contest for 5 hours of coding to solve 10 very challenging algorithmic problems using one single machine! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Collegiate_Programming_Contest.Among all UCSD Teams, UCSD Team Two performed the best in the regional. They (Eric Ma, Chengsong Diao, and Shuangmu Hu) were able to solve 8 out of 10 problems fast enough to secure 3rd place! We also have other teams placed at 7, 16, 17, 24, and 26, out of 48 teams. If you look closely, you may find some interesting character names from Dr. Seuss’s books as team names — yes, that’s our secret theme. More details can be found here in the final leaderboard is here
