Hello, I’m Cesar Hernandez Diaz (any pronouns), and I recently earned my B.A in Sociology and M.S. in Higher Education Counseling & Student Affairs from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. As a first-generation college student raised by immigrants, my education and career have been deeply rooted in giving back to underserved populations in higher education. My professional experience spans across both student affairs and academic affairs including transfer student success, university-level DEI initiatives, academic advising, graduate student advocacy, and student mentorship through my roles at Cal Poly SLO and San Diego State University. I’m a passionate, equity-driven individual who believes in holistic support and transformative leadership. I’m excited to immerse myself in the HDSI and broader UCSD community and grow alongside my team. Outside of work you can find me running around sunny San Diego, chasing sunsets, buying flowers at the local farmers markets, and trying all the great food San Diego has to offer!
