Nature is full of incredible physics phenomena that we want to study. Unfortunately, nature doesn’t speak English, so we must encode nature’s message into experimental data and subsequently decode them to unlock new physics and propel fundamental science forward. Aobo Li’s research utilizes ultra-sensitive radiation detectors to probe neutrinos and dark matter. His interests in machine learning spans self-supervised learning, time series analysis, and geometric deep learning. These algorithms have the potential to help extracting as much information as possible from radiation detectors. Aobo Li has earned recognition through several awards, including APS Dissertation Award in Nuclear Physics, Postdoc Award of Research Excellence and MLST Paper Award. Aobo Li is an Assistant Professor with the departments of Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute and Physics.
