Education: Dr. Warstadt earned a PhD in Linguistics from New York University in 2022 under the mentorship of Prof. Samuel Bowman.
Research: Dr. Warstadt is a natural language processing (NLP) researcher whose work focuses on using machine learning to address fundamental questions in linguistics, by exploring what Language Models (LMs) learn about grammar and how to apply them as models of human learners. Dr. Warstadt also investigates language acquisition using tools from machine learning.
Prior to UC San Diego: Dr. Warstadt joins us from ETH Zürich in Switzerland where he was a postdoctoral scholar in the the Computer Science Department.
